Janika Filipe, AMFT, APCC
Janika Filipe is a therapist who works with children, teens, adults, couples, and families across our Palo Alto and San Jose offices. She brings an unusually broad clinical toolkit, including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT, and Gottman Level 1 couples training, making her well suited to clients with complex or layered needs.
Janika has particular experience supporting couples navigating communication breakdown, family conflict, and relationship transitions. She also works with new parents adjusting to the demands of parenthood and families dealing with behavioral difficulties, divorce, and major life changes.
For children and teens, Janika tailors each session to the child’s unique interests, strengths, and developmental stage. She works with behavioral challenges, neurodivergence, autism spectrum, school refusal, social difficulties, and life transitions, and partners closely with parents throughout the process.
For adults, she works with anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, panic attacks, social anxiety, grief and loss, infertility, chronic illness, and LGBTQIA+ and gender identity concerns. Her training in EMDR makes her particularly effective for clients carrying trauma that has not responded to talk therapy alone.
Janika holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Palo Alto University with an emphasis in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling.
In her free time, Janika enjoys getting lost in a good book, baking, and planning her next outdoor adventure.
