Sarah Chelew, AMFT
Sarah Chelew is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who works with couples, individuals, children, and teens. She brings a structured, evidence-based approach that gives clients a clear framework rather than open-ended sessions that leave you wondering if anything is actually changing.
For couples, Sarah uses the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, two of the most research-backed approaches available, to help partners understand what’s driving the disconnect and build something more solid, whether that’s navigating recurring conflict, closing emotional distance, or recovering from a breach of trust.
For adults, she works with anxiety, OCD, depression, stress, and relational patterns that keep showing up in ways that are hard to understand alone.
For children and teens, Sarah uses CBT and play-based approaches adapted to each child’s age and temperament. She works with anxiety, OCD, school avoidance, and low mood, and involves parents as active partners throughout so progress doesn’t stay in the therapy room.
Sarah earned her Master’s in Counseling from Saint Mary’s College of California, graduating summa cum laude. She sees clients in person at our Palo Alto and Menlo Park offices and is available for video therapy appointments.
Originally from Monterey, Sarah now lives in San Francisco with her partner and their dog, Marsh. She believes the therapeutic relationship itself is part of what makes change possible and works hard to make sure clients feel that from the very first session.
