How to Re-think Negative Thoughts

How to Re-think Negative Thoughts

Therapy

Just because a negative thought pops into our minds doesn’t mean it will stay there forever.

You have the opportunity to flip the switch and turn negative thoughts around. You have it in you to pause, reevaluate and change the situation.

Take On The Challenge

Whenever a negative thought makes its way into your mind – take a moment to play detective and question it.

You can start by asking yourself…

Is there another way I can view this?

Is this thought true?

Have I had similar thoughts before?

Are these thoughts helping me or hurting me?

The answers to those questions may surprise you.

Thoughts Can Be Replaced

All thoughts can be replaced – it all comes down to how you look at them.

Here’s an example.

Instead of telling yourself, “This is way too hard. There is no way I can do this.” – you can flip the switch and say “This may be a little hard, but I have overcome similar challenges before, and I can do it again.”

Practice Makes Progress

Mastering a new skill takes time – positive thinking included. Noticing negative thoughts right away, questioning them, and reframing them can become a habit if you let it.

You are capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for.
