Calling All Parents – This Is The Blog For You

Therapy

There is no super-secret parenting manual out there. If there was, we’d all be using it, right?

All parents make mistakes.

It’s just the way life goes. Every single mistake or setback is a learning opportunity.

Every child and every family is unique. What works for your friends may not work for you, and that’s okay. Again, there is no parenting rule book out there. However, if you’ve been feeling confused or overwhelmed lately, keep on reading.

Healthy Conflict Resolution

When your child is arguing with their sibling or friend or you, it’s so easy to lose your temper. There is nothing we can say or do to prevent conflict.

Friends and family don’t always see eye to eye, and that’s okay. If we all had the exact same thoughts and ideas, life would be pretty boring.

When conflict occurs, children need to learn how to calm down, apologize and forgive.

Ignoring disagreements won’t make them magically disappear. If you have a disagreement with your child, sit down with them and encourage them to share how they feel in a calm setting.

The sooner your child learns how to express their emotions calmly, the sooner it will become a habit.

Let Yourself Off The Hook

It’s normal for parents to regret certain decisions they have made over the years.

It may be hard, but you have to remind yourself that no one is perfect, and you are doing the best you can with the resources you’ve been given.

Let yourself off the hook once in a while and see what happens.

It’s Okay To Say No

Have you ever been afraid to say no to your child?

Of course, as a parent, you want your children to be happy.

But they have to get used to the word no. In life, we can’t always get what we want, and it’s important to accept that.

It’s all about setting healthy boundaries.

“At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents.” – Jane D. Hull
