Question… Persuade…  Refer…

Man in need of Depression TreatmentQPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer – three simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR can learn how to recognize the warning signs and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

What is QPR?

In a 1.5 hour session up to 30 individuals can learn these three simple steps. Ernest Schmidt, LCSW is a certified QPR instructor and passionate about mental health.  Our QPR presentation will include information on:

  • The problem of suicide
  • Common myths and facts associated with suicide
  • Warning signs of suicide
  • Tips for asking the suicide question
  • Methods for persuading suicidal individuals to get help
  • Ways of referring at risk people to local resources
  • AND time for your Questions and Answers

Each attendee will receive a certificate, QPR booklet and card with information on suicide prevention, as well as resource information for local treatment providers.
